The Syrian peace initiative is discussed by the Jordanian foreign minister with his European counterparts
The foreign minister of Jordan has spoken with colleagues from Europe on the status and upcoming actions of an Arab-led movement to gradually bring about a political settlement in Syria.
The proposal will assist handle Syria's humanitarian, political, and security issues, said Ayman Safadi, who is also the deputy prime minister of Jordan. He emphasised the significance of the agreement agreed at a recent joint Arab summit in Amman.
On Thursday, Safadi spoke on the phone with Nikos Dendias of Greece, Ian Borg of Malta, Pekka Haavisto of Finland, and Annalena Baerbock of Germany.
According to Jordans News Agency, they discussed how to resolve the problem and what is required to deal with important issues in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254 in a "step-by-step" fashion.
The supply of humanitarian help to Syrians, the voluntary repatriation of refugees, the battle against terrorism, and combating drug smuggling as a first step towards resolving more extensive security and political challenges are all addressed in the resolution.
According to the news agency, the European foreign ministers emphasised the significance of the actions taken to progressively end the Syrian situation.
In order to examine ways to fortify the "strong" ties between the two nations, Safadi also met with a group from the German Bundestag Budget Committee, led by MP Claudia Raffelhüschen.
The current collaboration in a number of economic and development areas was also highlighted at the conference.
Safadi appreciated Berlin's support for Jordan's efforts to give Syrian refugees a decent life and its assistance for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. He also valued Berlin's support for Jordan's development process and its assistance in dealing with effects of regional crises on the Kingdom.
