New Libyan election discussions will take place in Morocco

The Libyan steering committee will convene in Morocco to organise the elections that are expected to end the political impasse that has split the oil-rich and war-torn nation.

According to Abdullah Belhaq, a spokesman for the Libyan House of Representatives, the news was published by the Italian news agency Nova.

Following their agreement on methods to advance towards elections, he said that the rivals' positions are convergent.

Since an election that was supposed to take place in December 2021 was called off because to disagreements about the eligibility of the main candidates, a political process to end the more than ten-year war in Libya has come to a standstill.
